About the Board
The Easthampton Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners. The Board is responsible for establishing policies, providing oversight of the Authority, and supporting the Housing Authority's mission to provide safe, affordable housing for the Easthampton community.
Commissioners are appointed in accordance with Massachusetts law through the following process:
- Mayor Appointments: The Mayor of Easthampton appoints members to the Board of Commissioners for designated terms, subject to applicable state laws and local procedures.
- City Council Confirmation: Mayoral appointments are submitted to the Easthampton City Council for confirmation before an appointment becomes effective.
- Tenant Commissioner: One Commissioner is elected by residents of the Housing Authority in accordance with Massachusetts law to represent resident interests on the Board.
When vacancies occur, the Mayor's Office manages the appointment process. Individuals interested in serving on the Easthampton Housing Authority Board of Commissioners are encouraged to contact the Mayor's Office to express their interest and inquire about current or upcoming vacancies.
Serving as a Commissioner is an opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of the Housing Authority by helping shape policies, supporting sound governance, and ensuring the Authority continues to serve the housing needs of the Easthampton community.
